Infineon EVAL-600W-FBFB-XDPP 600 W Full-Bridge to Full-Bridge DC-DC Power Kit

Develop high-performance 600 W DC-DC converters with EVAL-600W-FBFB-XDPP-TOBO1, featuring XDPP1100 digital control, PMBus functionality, and flux-balanced full-bridge design.

EVAL600WFBFBXDPPTOBO1 Power Supply Kit

The EVAL-600W-FBFB-XDPP-TOBO1 Power Supply Kit is a 600 W full-bridge to full-bridge DC-DC evaluation board designed for telecom, server, and high-performance SMPS applications. It converts a 42-75 V input into a stable 12 V/50 A output, making it ideal for engineers seeking to evaluate digital power controller features and develop high-efficiency, reliable power systems.

At the heart of the kit is the XDPP1100-Q024 digital power controller, the smallest controller in its class, providing precise digital regulation, PMBus-ready functionality, and flux-balanced control for optimal performance. The controller drives Infineon OptiMOS™ 5 100 V and OptiMOS™ 6 40 V MOSFETs via dual-channel EiceDRIVER™ gate drivers, implementing a full-bridge isolated topology for efficient power conversion.

Engineers can fully configure and monitor the board using the EVAL_XDPP1100_Q024_DB daughter board and a USB-I2C dongle (USB007A1) through a user-friendly GUI, enabling rapid testing of control parameters, fault handling, and real-time performance analysis.

Compact yet versatile, the EVAL-600W-FBFB-XDPP-TOBO1 provides a complete platform to prototype and optimize high-power DC-DC designs, evaluate cutting-edge digital controller features, and accelerate time-to-market for modern industrial, telecom, and server power applications.

Why choose EVAL-600W-FBFB-XDPP Power Supply Kit?

  • Real-world power scale: It delivers a true 600 W, quarter-brick-class platform, so efficiency, thermal, and transient behaviour map to production designs.
  • Firmware-first flexibility: Digital XDPP1100 control + GUI/programming support lets engineers iterate control algorithms (loop bandwidth, feed-forward, SR timing, etc.) far faster than fixed-analog demos.
  • System-level readiness: Flux balancing, pre-bias handling, PMBus telemetry and active sharing reduce integration risk when scaling or paralleling modules in telecom/server racks.
  • Compact, connectorized demo: Quarter-brick size and standard control interfaces make the board easy to drop into bench rigs and system prototypes.

Power Stage Architecture and Key Components

The power stage is a hard-switching full-bridge to full-bridge (FB-FB) DC-DC converter. It connects to the XDPP1100 digital controller daughterboard through two board-to-board rectangular connectors. Voltage mode control (VMC) is implemented for output voltage regulation to convert the input voltage range of 42V–75V DC to an output voltage of 12V DC. While a fan is not included in the evaluation kit, a minimum of 400 LFM airflow is required to cool the power stage.

The power board consists of a full-bridge converter with full-bridge synchronous rectification (SR), isolated through a planar transformer, a non-dissipative snubber, and an auxiliary power supply. The planar transformer provides isolation between the input and output with a 3:1 turns ratio. It allows versatile polarity configurations and grounding connections for the input and output terminals. Below VIN = 42V, the converter will lose 12V regulation, and the output voltage will drop to around 10.8V at VIN = 36V. However, it can still provide the full load current. The output current is sensed using a small PCB copper shunt, saving power loss and the cost of a precision sense resistor.
