CHICAGO (May 4, 2004)
Increased technical expertise demonstrates Newark's continued commitment to design engineers
Newark, a subsidiary of global Premier Farnell plc (NYSE:PFP, LSE:pfl) and the leading small-quantity distributor of electronic components and test equipment in North America, today announced that it has expanded its technical support capability. Twenty engineers are now available to provide design customers with expert product and application-related assistance.
The technical team, located at the company's headquarters in Chicago, has received much of its product training from Newark suppliers. Team members have overall product knowledge of the complete Newark offering, as well as category-specific expertise in semiconductors, passives, connectors and power.
"With our March announcement that we will be adding 40,000 new products in 2004, and now the expansion of our technical support team, we continue to demonstrate our commitment to serving the design engineer," said Eric Smith, market segment director, design engineers, at Newark. We expect to add more engineers to our team as demand grows."
Twenty-five year veteran engineer Steve Trinco has been hired to lead the technical support team. Trinco has previously managed technical support groups and field application engineers in the computer, automatic test and telecommunications industries, at such companies as Tellabs.
Design engineers can access technical support by calling a Newark representative at 1.800.4.Newark (463.9275), or by conducting a live online chat at www.newark.ca.
