The MAX5160LEUA+T is a low-power digital potentiometer in 8 pin μMAX package. It is a linear-taper digital potentiometer that performs the same function as a mechanical potentiometer or a variable resistor. It consists of a fixed resistor and a wiper contact with 32 tap points that are digitally controlled by three lines for the 8-pin MAX5160. It is an ideal for applications requiring digitally controlled resistors. A nominal resistor temperature coefficient of 50ppm/°C end-to-end and only 5ppm/°C ratiometric makes the MAX5160 ideal for applications requiring a low-temperature- coefficient variable resistor, such as low-tempco, adjustable-gain circuit configurations. Typical applications include LCD screen adjustment, volume control and mechanical potentiometer replacement.

- End to end resistance is 50Kohm, wiper resistance is 400 ohm
- Resistance tolerance is ±25%
- 3 wire serial data input
- ±1LSB DNL and ±0.5LSB INL
- Supply current is 100nA
- Power-on reset when wiper goes to midscale (position 16)
- ESD protection is ±2KV
- Glitchless switching between the resistor taps
- Operating temperature range from -40°C to +85°C
