The new PCIE-LP Series low-profile edge card connectors are PCI Express® Gen 4 compliant and supports one, four, eight and sixteen links for different bandwidth requirements. It also features Edge Rate® contacts on a 1.00 mm (.0394”) pitch for optimized signal integrity performance. The incredibly low 8 mm profile is 3 mm less than the standard 11 mm profile connector with an identical 3.50 mm contact wipe. Ultimately this providesmore vertical space in a standard size chassis with a set form factor allowing for greater system air flow and space to route other components over the connector. The low 8 mm profile connector is ideal for applications where space is limited or dimensions are not pre-determined. With PCI Express® Gen 4 compliance, this edge card connector achieves a 16 GT/s bit rate to meet the industry demands for increased bandwidth. Support of the PCI Express® protocol also ensures low latency, power savings and guaranteed transmission of the connector. Samtec’s Edge Rate® contact system is designed to increase cycle life and minimize the effects of broadside coupling. This decreases crosstalk for superior signal integrity performance and impedance control. Rugged Edge Rate® contacts are also less prone to damage when “zippered” during unmating.
